            Alfred P. Bergner died on September 24, 2002 at age 59 of a malignant brain tumor. A native of New York City, he graduated fifth in his class from The Bronx High School of Science and cum laude from Amherst College. He then graduated from the Harvard Law School and was subsequently awarded a Master's degree in taxation law from the Graduate Tax Program at New York University. Following his receipt of a Master's degree, he clerked for Chief Judge William Drennen of the United States Tax Court after which he entered the private practice of law. A fine tax attorney, he was admired by his family, friends and clients for his fortitude, his devotion to those whom he loved and for whom he cared and his outstanding tax acumen and judgment.
